University College Dublin (UCD) is the largest university in Ireland with 1,200 academic staff across a range of disciplines. UCD is ranked 159th in the prestigious Times Higher Education QS World University Ranking; ranking in the top 200 universities worldwide, and ranked 65th in Europe.

Leslie Daly is professor of Epidemiology and Biomedical Statistics in UCD’s School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Population Science and has worked in UCD since 1976.

Professor Daly has a major commitment to the teaching of research methodology and biostatistics particularly for the School's Master in Public Health. He is the main author of the textbook Interpretation and Uses of Medical Statistics

Professor Daly's research interests are wide-ranging and his methodological expertise has involved him in many areas of both clinical and epidemiological research. He has a particular interest in the design and analysis of cohort studies and clinical trials. He has in excess of 170 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 150 published abstracts, reports, book chapters and research letters.  His publications have a H-index of 30.

Professor Daly is currently chair of the Centre for Support and Training in Analysis and Research (CSTAR).  This centre which is funded by the Irish Health Research Board offers a biostatistical consultancy and training service to health researchers in Ireland (www.cstar.ie).  CSTAR staff will be involved in the tasks of Workpackage 6 for the NILVAD project.
